Pastors

DR. VICTOR D. PENTZ
Senior Pastor
404/ 842-5824
vpentz@peachtreepres.org
Vic Pentz’ call into the ministry came amidst the campus tumult of the 1960’s as he led his Intervarsity Christian Fellowship chapter at Pomona College. Today his passion for Scripture comes out in the way he applies God's timeless truth to current events and everyday life. Sprinkled through his sermons are allusions to his many interests: sports, hiking, cycling, food, travel, history, and popular culture. Vic grew up in Southern California, is an alumnus of Princeton Theological Seminary and received his doctorate from Fuller Seminary. Among his many pastoral experiences are preaching to the President of the United States, serving as chaplain to the crew of three space shuttle launches at Cape Canaveral, serving as chaplain to the world’s largest rodeo and running an evangelistic beach ministry to Southern California surfers. Vic has taught preaching at Fuller Seminary and has been featured as a speaker at conferences and workshops in the US and around the world. Vic tries to walk his talk as a missional believer and was named Atlanta Police Department’s Citizen of the Year in 2006. Known for his love of Atlanta, he often says, “I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could.” As PPC's staff leader, Vic loves pulling together teams of people who dream God-sized dreams and then step out in trust that God will make them happen. Vic and his wife, Becky, a professor at Emory University's Winship Cancer Center, have three grown daughters, Sarah, Jessica and Amy..

Marnie is passionate about building community at Peachtree and helping people find their own purpose and passion. She loves to teach the bible and to see people of all ages grow in their relationship with Jesus. Marnie is married to Mark Crumpler, also a pastor at Peachtree. DR. MARK CRUMPLER
Pastor for Teaching and Spiritual Formation
404/ 842-3172
markcrumpler@peachtreepres.org
When Mark Crumpler moved to Atlanta for the first time he was a high school freshman and the oldest son of a pastor. When he and his wife Marnie moved back to Atlanta in 2002 he came with two children of his own, his own call as a pastor, and as the husband of a pastor. Mark’s pastoral ministry is grounded in a desire to blend the life of the mind with the love of God. After discovering a love for theological study in an introductory course in Christian doctrine, Mark went on to finish his B.A. at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. This was followed by his M.Div and Ph.D work at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Mark’s great joy in ministry is the unfolding of biblical truth in a way that allows people to meet God in life changing ways.

DR. STEVE HUNTLEY
Pastor for Grand Adults
404/ 842-5828
shuntley@peachtreepres.org
I grew up in college towns (Clinton and Due West, South Carolina, and Dahlonega, Georgia) where my father was a professor.  I was blessed to grow up in a home in which Christian faith and discipleship were taken very seriously, and I came to faith in Jesus Christ at an early age.  I attended Davidson College, and felt that God was calling me to the Gospel ministry during my student days there.  Following graduation from Davidson I attended Columbia Theological Seminary, graduating in the Class of 1961.  Later on, I earned two additional degrees from Columbia.

It was during my Seminary days that I met my wife, the former Catchie Hambright, while I was serving as the summer student pastor at her home church in Grover, North Carolina.  We have three children and six grandchildren.

I was ordained as a pastor in June, 1961.  Before joining the staff at Peachtree in August, 1989, I served churches in Williston, Florida ;  Decatur, Georgia;  Kingstree, South Carolina;  and Memphis, Tennessee.  I have served as a pastor for over 50 years, and the experience has been one of joy.  I am grateful to God for His many blessings through the years.

REV. VICKI FRANCH
Pastor of Pastoral Care
404/ 842-2571
vfranch@peachtreepres.org
Vicki has been a daughter of Peachtree Presbyterian since she was 10 years old. She thinks of this church as an extension of her home, and of the congregation as her family. Her father, Dr Frank Harrington, served as senior pastor of Peachtree for 29 years. She considers her ministry here to be “a dream come true”.

Vicki attended the Westminster Schools, Duke University and Princeton Theological Seminary. While getting her seminary degree, she served at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Newtown Square Presbyterian Church, and served as a chaplain for Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Vicki is married to Dr Hal Franch, who is a nephrologist and associate professor of medicine at Emory. They met in high school and have been married for 25 years. They have three children, Carolina, Michael and James. “I am privileged to be in Pastoral Care because I am able to share some of the most important milestones of life with the people of God here at PPC. I constantly remember the Good Shepherd, Jesus, as I serve this beloved flock, and I want to feed and care for them after His example. I also get to work with people who share in the care of our congregation: Stephen ministers, pastoral care teams, elders, colleagues, support group leaders, and the resources at the Peachtree Counseling Center.

DR. CHUCK ROBERTS
Pastor for Congregational Life
404/ 842-5883
croberts@peachtreepres.org
A native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Chuck Roberts graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in History, which he discovered was good for nothing, except a springboard to graduate school. Having been involved in sports most of his life, he contemplated coaching (a High School football injury turned him into an equipment manager, and he holds two conference championship rings), but sensed a call to ministry, and pursued that through Columbia Theological Seminary, from which he earned two Masters degrees (a Doctorate came later from McCormick Seminary in Chicago). Having served churches in Augusta, GA (where a close friend was Assistant Manager of the Augusta National!); Greenville, SC; and Pascagoula, MS (riding out several hurricanes, the first of which hit his third day on the job!), Chuck serves Peachtree for the second time, having been the Minister to Singles from 1989-1995. With a passion for the Bible, for seeing men grow as followers of Jesus, and for the church scattered and effective in the workplace, Chuck can be found covered in sawdust working on projects at home, or on his bike around Buckhead or on the Silver Comet Trail when trying to clear his mind. Married to the former Lib Upchurch of Montgomery, AL, Chuck and Lib have two adult daughters, Anne and Kathryn.

Bryan grew up in Texas, and attended Stanford University, where he played lacrosse and discovered his love for the outdoors. While in seminary at Regent College in Vancouver, Bryan served at First Presbyterian Church of Bellingham and as a chaplain at Vancouver General Hospital. He has also served churches in San Diego and Houston, and has been a keynote speaker at young adult and student retreat gatherings across the country. As teaching pastor and leader of the Summit Worship services, Bryan is passionate about communicating the Scriptures in practical, dynamic ways that lead to life change.

In his spare time, he coaches lacrosse, and loves sneaking away to the North Georgia mountains for a weekend of hiking and cycling with his wife Ali. He is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Seminary in California.
