Choral Masterworks Concert
Sunday, February 26, 2012 - 6:30 PM
Choral Masterworks Concert Sunday, February 26, 2012 6:30pm at Wieuca Road Baptist Church With guest conductor Dr. Donald Neuen
Concert is free and open to the public
The Music Ministries of Peachtree Presbyterian Church and Wieuca Road Baptist Church are delighted to join forces, singing a concert of some of the best choral music in the world under the baton of guest conductor, Dr. Donald Neuen.
Robert Shaw brought Don Neuen to Atlanta in 1970, as his Assistant Conductor, to create the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus. The collaboration of Neuen and Shaw in the performance of major works for chorus and orchestra began in 1959, and there began Atlanta’s love-affair with Don Neuen.
His wide-range of choral experience includes teaching at all levels of music, from church choirs to the great academic institutions of the country such as the Eastman School and UCLA, his current post. He is internationally recognized for the presentation of major extended works for chorus, soloists and orchestra. Neuen has served as guest conductor and lecturer all over the world and nearly every state in the U.S., working with professional and community choruses and orchestras, all-state high school choruses, collegiate honor choruses, state national and international church music workshops/performances, international music festivals, and divisional and national convention programs.
Please join us at the Wieuca Baptist Church, in their beautiful Sanctuary, for this extraordinary concert.
ANY CHORAL CONDUCTING STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO JOIN THESE CHOIRS FOR A SPECIAL RETREAT WITH DR. NEUEN, February 24 + 25, as we prepare this music together.

Brad Sherrill: The Gospel of John
Sunday, March 11, 2012 - 6:00 PM
Brad Sherrill: The Gospel of John Sunday, March 11 6:00-8:00pm in the Summit
Cost: $10.00/$5.00 for students Tickets may be purchased online (link coming soon) or at the door
Nursery is available for children ages 5 and under.
It took nearly five months for actor Brad Sherrill to memorize all 20,000 words of The Gospel of John. He had plans to perform it just once at his home church in Atlanta, but has now presented John’s gospel over 600 times since 2001 in professional theaters and churches across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Ireland.
Over the past decade The Gospel of John’s 600 performances have included a six-week run off-Broadway at New York City’s historic Lamb’s Theatre (2003) and at professional theaters in Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto and Atlanta (from 2001 through 2010.) The Gospel of John’s European Cathedral tours (2007, 2008 & 2009) brought the performance to large, historic cathedrals of the U.K., Ireland and Northern Ireland including Westminster Cathedral (London), Lincoln, Lichfield and Gloucester Cathedrals (U.K.), Christ Church Cathedral (Dublin), St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral (Cork) and St. Peter’s Cathedral (Belfast.)
With perhaps a dozen very simple props used in a variety of ways, Sherrill transforms the gospel into a captivating drama, presenting the entire story of the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Seating for the performance at Peachtree begins at 5:15pm. For more information on this event, contact the Peachtree Music Ministry at 404-842-5846 or to learn more about Brad Sherrill visit his website: http://www.gospelofjohn.com/homepage2.htm

Taizé Prayer Service: Third Thursdays
Thursday, January 19, 2012 - 7:30 PM
Taizé Prayer Services at Peachtree Third Thursdays each month, from 7:30-8:15pm in the Williams Center
January 19, 7:30pm February 16, 7:30pm March 15, 7:30pm April 19, 7:30pm May 17, 7:30pm
What is Taizé?
Taizé is a monastic community in southeastern France. It was founded during the war-torn years of World War II, with the mission of healing the divisions between Christians and within the human family. Thousands of people still gather in Taizé every week, to search, sing, pray - - to find refreshment, renewal and reconciliation.
What is a Taizé Prayer?
The purpose of a Taizé Prayer (service) is for the participants to enter into silence, meditate on scripture, sing as a community, and pray together. There is no sermon. Minimal instruction is given. All participants feel free to sit, stand or kneel as your own prayer, singing and meditation leads you.
Worship in the style of Taizé is marked by depth and simplicity, with much singing alongside significant periods of silence. Silence is a central part of the service, and is a gift to us in this busy world - - a place from which you can freely speak to God about what is on your heart; more importantly, allowing God to speak to you.
We hope you can join us for one or all of these special evenings of music and prayer. For more information, call the Music Ministry at 404-842-5846.
