Job Description for Student Ministries Summer Internship

Student Ministry Mission Statement
To invite into our ministry every student, wherever they are spiritually and assist them in becoming devoted followers of
Jesus Christ.


Pastoral/Relational
Relational ministry consists of meeting with students for fun and/or intentional discipleship. Interns may be asked to lead or co-lead a small group or bible study. Leading a small group or bible study entails organizing the group, preparing discussion questions, creating and maintaining a safe atmosphere for conversation, and encouraging student participation. Time with students is the number one focus of the internship.

Leadership—trips/events/activities
Attend all agreed upon trips/events/activities. Assist in the planning process by completing designated assignments. Leadership consists of being able to receive and give instructions to staff, leaders, and students to help activities run as smooth and effectively as possible.

Teaching
Interns will be assigned to speak two or three times on Sunday mornings during the summer. Each message should consist of 10-15 hours of study, preparation, and practice. You will be given a topic (angle) and passage of scripture to guide your preparation.

Programs
Attend weekly meeting to help plan weekly programs. Planning consists of brainstorming teaching angles, ideas relevant to current teaching series, and use of multi-media tools, etc. Staff will be given weekly assignments to help with the development of Sunday morning programs.

Personal Study & Spiritual Development
Interns are expected to take 4 -6 hours each week for personal study and prayer as well as participate in a weekly staff book study. Interns will meet weekly with their supervisor to discuss both personal, spiritual, and ministry growth. Our goal is for this internship to be a deeply enriching experience for the intern both spiritually and professionally.

General Information
This is a 10 week paid internship (compensation to be discussed during the interview process). Interns should be prepared to work 40-50 hours per week. Interns will report directly to their ministry department head.
