Women Mentoring Women

What is the vision of Women Mentoring Women?
Women Mentoring Women is a ministry for women designed to pair mentors who are a little further along in their faith journey and life experiences with mentorees in order to support, encourage, guide, and challenge them in their life and faith journey. Women Mentoring Women encourages both one-on-one mentoring and group mentoring.

Who is qualified to be a mentor?
While many are intimidated to serve as a mentor, you are probably more capable than you think! We believe that you are qualified to serve as mentor if you have the following characteristics:
 • You have made a commitment to Jesus Christ and are growing in your faith.
 • You are a patient, attentive listener and you look to God for His leading and answers.
 • You invite the trust of others.
 • You have a desire to come alongside another woman or women to help them grow in their faith.

What if I’m already a part of another ministry?
We want to equip mentors no matter what ministry you are a part of. You might use your mentoring skills through MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) or in Presbyterian Women or Word Before Work. You might mentor someone in global ministry or local missions. Though there will be events focused on mentoring for both mentors and mentorees, this ministry is meant to encourage women in all parts of the Peachtree community.

How will you match me with someone to mentor?
Both mentors and mentorees will fill out an application so that we can determine a good match for you. Although we offically launched this ministry in Jan of this year with some 60 women participating, it is an ongoing and growing ministry. We welcome new participants and look forward to talking to you about the possibilities.

What is the time commitment?
We recommend that you meet together once a month for one hour, contact your mentoree on a weekly basis with an email or a phone call. Once the relationship is established, please be committed and make your meeting time a priority.

What will we do in our time together?
It is up to the two of you to decide exactly how you will spend your time. Women Mentoring Women has an inherently flexible structure as each mentor and mentoree will plan their time together around the expressed needs of the mentoree. Each meeting time should have a sense of intentionality, with a purpose in mind, and mentors and mentorees should come prepared for the time together. We will offer several study options to mentoring duos or groups and provide a list of books, resources and suggestions to guide you.

How will I be prepared to serve as a mentor?
You will be assigned a mentoring coach who will meet with you and not only discuss but also give you some guidelines as well as resources to consider. You will be a part of a group of other mentors who can also offer assistance to you along the way.

What if I have questions during the mentoring process?
Your mentoring coach will walk alongside each mentor and her mentoree-answering questions, listening, offering suggestions when asked, providing general support.

If you have further questions, please contact Liz Serravezza at or 404-210-1608.
