Elders, Class of 2008

June McDaniel Adkinson has been a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church since 1982, was ordained an elder in 1995, and has served two previous terms on Session. She is a native of Gadsden, Alabama and a graduate of Auburn University. She has two married daughters, Julie Purdie and Amy Waddell. June is Senior Vice President of Client Relations for Lee Hecht Harrison, Inc.
Bob Anderson has been a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church since 1993.   He and wife Kathy have two sons, Hunter (14) and Daniel (12). He is a member of the Faithmates Sunday School class. Bob teaches adult Sunday School and is active with Meals on Wheels. Bob  is a 20 year employee with SunTrust Banks where he works in the Debt Capital Markets division.
Shanon Bell has been married to Glenn Bell for 11 years. They have  three year old twins, Brandon and Kayla. Shanon heads Peachtree’s baptism ministry, and teaches  three year old Sunday School with Glenn. The Bells served on the 2000 mission team to the Dominican Republic. Shanon was very involved in youth ministry from 1994 - 2001. Shanon and Glenn are members of the Lifemates Sunday School class. They believe joining a class is the best way to make a big church small. Shanon is looking forward to serving her  second term on session.
Barbie Bosshardt has been a member of Peachtree since 1986. She and her husband, Phil, met at Peachtree in 1989 and were married here in April of 1991. Barbie was commissioned as a Stephen Minister in January 2002, and was commissioned as a Stephen Leader in 2004. As a Stephen Minister, she visits members who are hospitalized and those who live in retirement and assisted living communities. Currently she serves as co-chairman of the Usher Ministry. She also served on the Worship Committee, the Prayer Ministry team, and the Adult LifeBand Leadership Team and has chaired the Special Care Ministry team.
Kathy Bremer grew up and was baptized in the Presbyterian Church. She and her husband, Hank, joined Peachtree in 1993. Their two children, Taylor (11) and Hunter (8), were both baptized at Peachtree. Kathy serves as President of the Pacific Southern Company. Kathy’s community involvement reflects her passion for sharing the love of Christ with others. She is on the Elementary Parents Council at The Westminster Schools. At Peachtree Kathy serves on the Prayer Ministry Team for the 11:05 service, is the Kidjam Worship Kids Team leader, and is a member of the Women’s Community Bible Study. She and Hank are members of the Partners in Faith Sunday School Class. She has taught Sunday School and led a Romans Grow Group Bible Study.
Jane North Brown has been a member of Peachtree Presbyterian for over twenty years. She married Frank Brown at Peachtree and they have two daughters, Grace (17) and Chandler (15), and a son, Hailey (12), who are all students at The Westminster Schools. Jane practiced law for many years in Atlanta and now represents Live Water Properties, LLC in Jackson Hole, selling ranch and resort properties. In addition to numerous community board positions, she has been involved in many capacities at Peachtree, including the Preschool Board, LaAmistad, VBS, student music ministry, the Credence Sunday School Class, and previous service on the Session.
Richard (Dick) E. Friese was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He attended Portland State University before entering the Air Force as an aviation cadet in 1954. While in the Air Force he attended the University of Pittsburgh, graduating in 1967 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1974 with 20 years of service. Dick and Emilie have been married for thirty-four years and have one daughter who lives in California. They moved to Atlanta in 1975 where he pursued a second career as a stockbroker and administrative manager with Merrill Lynch, retiring after twenty-five years. Joining Peachtree in 1976, they co-founded the Agape Sunday school class in 1982. Dick serves as an Usher, Peachtree Trust Trustee and member of the Grand Adults Evangelism Committee. He also volunteers with the Atlanta Food Bank, Kids in Need and La Amistad.
James H. (Chip) Groome, a native Atlantan, has been a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church since 1982. He and his wife, Cathy, have three children, Mary Catherine (22), Christie (20) and Hunter (16). He holds a Bachelor of Industrial Management degree from Georgia Tech. He is co-owner of Grove Street Partners, a real estate investment and development company specializing in industrial and office properties, and a partner in Cornerstone Development, a retail developer. He has been involved in youth athletics, coaching numerous basketball teams at Peachtree Presbyterian and baseball teams at Buckhead Baseball (where he also served on the Board of Directors and as head of facilities). He has recently completed a two-term commitment as a Trustee of the Wesleyan School and has served as Chairman of its Building Committee for the past six years.
Wendy Kazmarek has been a member of Peachtree since 1982. She has been married to Skip for 33 years; they have three grown children – Jennifer (who is married to Bill Sande), Cliff (who is married to Summer), and Robert. She has previously served on the Session, the Education Committee, and the Elder Nominating Committee. She currently serves on the Community Ministries Committee and the Adult LifeBand Committee. Wendy’s heart keeps her as Director of the Lynwood Park Education Program and she leads the Prayer Ministry for the Women’s Community Bible study. Wendy is also a new Stephen Minister.
Travis Kelley has been a member of Peachtree since September 2001, but has regularly attended since moving to Atlanta in 2000. Travis has volunteered as a middle school youth advisor since the spring of 2001. Along with Watson Barker, he leads a Bible Study for high school sophomore guys. Travis also serves with his wife as co-president of the Outfitters Sunday School class, and has served on the Elder Nominating Committee, as a Confirmation teacher from 2002 to 2004, and as treasurer for the Outfitters. Travis is an internal auditor for Time Warner serving the Turner Broadcasting System division here in Atlanta.
Kimberley Kennedy has been a member of Peachtree since 2003. A lifelong Georgian, she grew up in a small Presbyterian church in Thomaston. Kimberley serves as one of Peachtree’s board members at Buckhead Christian Ministry, hosts our new member orientation, Exploring Peachtree, and participates in the Bethel Bible study. A graduate of Agnes Scott College, Kimberley spent the majority of her career in television with the exception of the year 2000 when she worked as Communications Director in Georgia for the Bush Presidential Campaign. She is currently the producer and host of a weekly news magazine show at WSB-TV. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Arthritis Foundation and on the Advisory Board of Prevent Child Abuse Georgia.
R. M. (Bob) Kesterton is a 1950 graduate of the University of Miami. He spent his business career in the air conditioning industry, becoming a partner in Mingledorff’s, Inc., a local air conditioning equipment wholesale distributor. He presently serves as Chairman of the Board. He also serves on the metro Atlanta Salvation Army Advisory Board. Bob married Mary Lillard of Lyons, Georgia, in 1955. They have four children – Rebecca, Terri, David and Bill – and eight grandchildren. Bob joined Peachtree in 1972. He and Mary are charter members of the Agape Sunday School class. He has served as Chairman and a Greeter for the Peachtree Express since its inception. He also served on the Building Committee, the Property Committee, and presently is a member of the Hospitality Committee. Mary and Bob are currently Co-Presidents of the Agape Sunday School class. He has served as a deacon and elder at Oglethorpe Presbyterian Church and two terms as elder at Peachtree.
Susie Kyle, an Atlanta native, joined Peachtree in 1983. Susie taught pre-school Sunday School when her children were young and decided to teach again with her husband, Vernon, when they had their granddaughter, Harlan. They are presently teaching a class of three-year-olds. A calligrapher, Susie has performed this service for various projects in the church. She has completed Disciple I and has been a member of WCBS Bible study for eleven years. She has been a Bible school leader for the past two years. Susie has been a volunteer at the Shepherd Center, participated in fundraising for NAAR and is an advocate for the developmentally disabled. Susie and Vernon were married at Peachtree. She has two grown children, Bo and Jenny Hayes, and a stepson, Jay, and daughter-in-law, Virginia.
A native of Greenville, SC, Andrea Lutz has lived in Atlanta since 1983. She has a BA in Elementary Education. A member of Peachtree since 1988, Andrea was ordained in the Elder Class of 2000 and chaired the Session’s 1999 Pastoral Care Committee. She has served on the Peachtree Counseling Center Board for 6 years, chairing the Marketing Committee and the Facilities Committee. She is a member of the Hospitality Ministry Leadership Committee and a volunteer for the last 3 years with La Amistad (ESOL tutoring program). A Stephen Minister, Andrea facilitated Divorce Recovery Support Groups for many years and has held various offices in Sunday school classes. Andrea has 2 adult children: a son in Sarasota, FL and a daughter in Plano, TX. She enjoys traveling, golfing, fishing, taking Bible study courses, reading, writing poetry and “socializing.”
Mike Neal is managing partner of Summit Commercial Real Estate and has been a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church since 1986. He has served as Class President of Faith Mates Sunday school class, and Vice President of his singles Sunday School class, where he meet his wife Julie Blackwell Neal. Mike serves on the Finance Committee, Benevolence Committee, Real Estate Committee, and as Clerk of the Session. His passion is the education of children, and he serves as chairman of the Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool Board and the board of Covenant House of Georgia. Julie and Mike have twin girls, Lindsey and Natalie. Mike received a bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University.
Dulaney L. O’Roark III (De) has been a member of Peachtree since 1990, has served previously as an elder and has taught adult and children’s Sunday school. De and his wife, Kim, have been married for 14 years and have a 9-year-old daughter, Elizabeth. De and Kim met at Peachtree, were married here and are members of the Faithmates Sunday school class. De is a regional regulatory director with MCI. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in 1983 and a J.D in 1987.
Max Staples III is a native Atlantan and has been at Peachtree since the age of 5. In high school and college, he was active in the church’s youth group and choir. He attended Camp Rutledge during all of his high school and college years and was awarded the Gene Wilson “Stamp of the Camp” in his final year. After college, Max returned to Atlanta and Peachtree and volunteered as an Adult Advisor with the high school youth group. He later served as a Confirmation Teacher, a Children’s Sunday School teacher, a member of the Elder Nominating Committee (2001), and President of the Bread Breakers adult Sunday School class. Currently, he is the Education Chair of the same class, and has recently become an Adult Sunday School teacher. Max graduated from Wake Forest University and currently works with SecureWorks, an Atlanta-based computer network security company. He and his wife Sheldon have two children, son Jack, 8 and daughter Carson, 6.
William D. Young, Sr. has been a member of Peachtree for 21 years and has previously served as an Elder.   He and wife Jane have been married 49 years. All three of their children and their families are members of Peachtree. Bill serves as President of General Wholesale Company.
Eric Zimmermann was raised in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where he and his family were members of First Presbyterian Church. He was baptized when he became a Christian at 13. In Atlanta since 1987 and a member of Peachtree for over twelve years, Eric has been actively involved in many aspects of the church including teaching Sunday school, working in The Zone, being a member of the Partners in Faith Sunday school class, and working on several committees – Long Term Planning, Master Planning, Real Estate and Finance. Eric and his family are enthusiastic participants in the Eleven O Five service. Eric is married to Loretta, a PPC Elder, and has two middle school aged daughters. He is a Managing Director at Eastdil Realty Company, a national real estate investment bank.
