We have an additional volunteer opportunity for the 2nd SATURDAY in APRIL. The KidMix Program at the City of Refuge and adding Senior Citizen Services HOMES Program in April only.
CHILDCARE NOW AVAILABLE for grades K through 4th!
All you need is a willing spirit to fulfill the scriptures of hope in the lives of at-risk children their families who are living on the margin in Atlanta.
The 2nd SATURDAY of each month, come join the fun and family-friendly KidMix program at the City of Refuge, targeting children and families in specific at-risk neighborhoods. KidMix is a high-energy, high-impact version of Children's Church, much like Vacation Bible School. Teachers and activity leaders are already in place. All you need is able hands and willing hearts to engage the children and join in the songs and games. You will help with the discipline as we sit with them in a focused lesson time as the Children’s Pastor teaches the way Jesus did, using parables and real life illustrations. Your heart will swell with joy as the children recite the days memory verse. We will end the morning by serving lunch which is prepared on-site in their own 180° Kitchen…hamburgers and hot dogs all around!
The goal is to capture a child's imagination with a program that shows them an alternative to the lifestyle they see each day. Please join us and let God use you to fill these children’s hearts with hope and their faces with a smile. You will be blessed.

Senior Citizen Services (SCS) of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking volunteer groups on Saturdays to help work with our HOMES Program (Home Owner Maintenance and Enhancement for Seniors). The HOMES Program provides minor home repairs and enhancements as well as lawn/yard cleanup for low income seniors in Fulton County. Volunteer groups normally work on a Saturday from 9:00am to 1:00pm. All volunteers should be at least 15 years old. Volunteers will mainly work on interior or exterior painting and yard clean-up. It is good to have 15 to 20 volunteers to do one home, but we can work with more or less than this norm. All supplies and tools are provided for the volunteer projects, however, donations toward the supplies are always appreciated in order to increase the number of seniors served. Also, volunteers can bring their own tools of they so desire. SCS has paid staff to work on the more specialized needs of plumbing and electrical work and building ramps. This work is normally accomplished on weekdays.
Volunteers participating on a HOMES project find it rewarding in that they are able to see firsthand the results of their time and labor, as well as experience the appreciation of the client. Peachtree is sponsoring the HOMES Program the 2nd SATURDAY in April. April 10th, 2010
SCS is located just off Northside Drive, South of I-75.
More information on SCS is available at: www.scsatl.org
