Growing and giving in the Children’s Choirs at Peachtree . . .
When a child is baptized at Peachtree, it is a church-wide event. We stand up as a congregation and, with one voice, declare that we will help raise this child. Think of it: each precious child at Peachtree is counting on all of us to show him the way. Along with Sunday School and worship, one of the greatest opportunities for a child to grow in faith is to join a children’s choir.

Children have naturally generous spirits. They want to give, but they need to grow. In a choir setting, they take their first steps in applying those desires to give, to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and we help them grow by helping them to develop:
  • singing and musical skills
  • listening skills
  • the ability to focus
  • self-discipline
  • group cooperation and social skills; a community focus, working toward team goals and developing what will be life-long friendships
  • leadership skills
  • behavior in front of crowds
  • an deeper understanding of worship
In the world of nature, songs are like colorful feathers - - a bird sings his best to show how good and admirable he is. In the body of Christ, we make our best music to show how good God is.

Bring your child to us. As members of the Children’s Choirs at Peachtree, our kids grow in God’s word and give of themselves by singing and playing music, to glorify Him!

CHOIRS FOR CHILDREN (Ages 4 yrs through 6th grade)
for older students, see Peachtree Youth Music

The Kingdom Singers
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00pm. Rm. 2405 or Sundays, 3:30-4:30pm. Rm. 2405
Age: Children in 4th through 6th grades
Director: Chris Barry
Contact Chris Barry, or 404-842-2177

The Kingdom Singers is the intermediate choir between Youth and Children’s Music. The Kingdom Singers make giant leaps in their abilities from the primary years, so we take these budding leaders on a weekend Children’s Choir Festival in the Spring. They sing about three times per semester in worship, plus special events, and they often provide part-singing for the younger choir’s melodies. The Kingdom Singers always participate in the Angel Chorus for our 3:00 + 5:00pm Family Christmas Eve Services and serve and the leading actors/singers for our annual Children’s Musical.

The Praise Singers
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:45-6:30pm. Rm. 2101
Age: Children in 1st - 3rd grades
Directors: Heather Ellison and Jennifer Christie
Accompanist, John Irvin
Contact: Chris Barry, or 404-842-2177

The Praise Singers are our early elementary choir. We build on the concepts presented in the Cherub Choir, expanding the children’s singing skills and their understanding of musical concepts. The Praise Singers learn more about worship, singing “psalms, hymns and spiritual songs”, learning to offer their singing praises to God.

The Praise Singers will lead worship two or three times during the fall and the same in the spring, plus special Christmas music and a year-end performance. The Praise Singers always participate in the Angel Choir for our Family Christmas Eve services.

Cherub Choir
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:00-5:40p.m., Rms. 2301, 2309 and 2311
Age: Four years old (as of September 1 of this school year) through Kindergarten/Pre-1st
Directors: Chris Barry and Mary Hoffman
Contact: Chris Barry, or 404-842-2177

Everyone loves to see and hear our youngest singers! The children in the Cherub Choir are taking their first steps into group singing and giving of their time and talents for God. They are learning to use their voices, learning musical concepts, learning group cooperation skills and making first contacts with others their age who may be life-long friends. They perform about 3 times per semester, in traditional worship and in special concert events.

The Cherub Choir is grouped by gender, one girls’ class and one boys’ class for rehearsals, though they sing together in performance.

HANDBELLS FOR CHILDREN

The Peachtree Bells
Rehearsals: Sundays, 4:30-5:30pm
Age: 4th through 6th grades
Director: Heather Ellison
Contact: Chris Barry, or 404-842-2177

Our older elementary ringers have several years’ experience with handbells, so they will play for worship as well as special events through out the year.

The Praise Ringers
Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 6:30-7:00pm, Rm. 2103
Age: 2nd + 3rd grades
Director: Heather Ellison
Contact: Chris Barry, or 404-842-2177

Peachtree’s handbell heritage starts here! Children learn basic techniques of handbell ringing. They perform twice annually, at the Children’s Advent Concert, and at an end-of-year concert in the Fellowship Hall.
