Work Life at Peachtree

The first question of the Westminster Catechism asks, “What is the chief end of man?” The answer, in the same classic 17th century language as the question, states “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” What may have been easy to understand in the 1640’s is confusing today.

The question really asks “What is the purpose of life?” And to update the answer to 21st century language is to say that “The purpose of life is to have a relationship with God, and to see everything else grow out of that relationship.”

In other words, what we do grows out of who we are. And for followers of Jesus, who we are is a person created in the image of God. Your work—whether you are in banking, or a homemaker, or a teacher, or in medicine, or retired, or whatever you do, is important to God. Your work, your life, is vitally important to God, and He invites you to partner with him in that, just as he invites you to worship Him
